You can take steps to stay healthy and active as you get older. It’s important to:

  1. Keep your mind active and stay socially active.
  2. Choose healthy foods and rest.
  3. Talk to your doctor about any health concerns.
  4. Take steps to prevent falls and other injuries.
  5. Stay safe while driving and exercising.

Remember it’s never too late to make healthy changes in your life.

finish The Work

Doing the work. Your keys to living successful.

  1.  Take care of your spiritual health.
  2.  Take care of your family/relationship health.
  3.  Take care of your physical health.
  4.  Take care of your mental health.
  5.  Take care of your financial health.

“There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”  (Proverbs 23:18, NIV)

Focus and Move Forward

During times of mental health crisis take steps to do self-care on a regular basis.  Stay in the Word, mediation/quiet time and do something fun or relaxing.

Make It Personal To You

Something to Ponder

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”                ~ Albert Einstein

” Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.        ~ Steve Jobs

Reminder:  You are your biggest advocate.  There is no shame in admitting that you are struggling with an issue. Make things durable to work through your issue.  Being a “silent suffer” will only prolong healing.  Allow others to help stand in the gap for you, through prayer as you press through. Remember professional help is not the enemy, but a resource when you believe you are not moving forward.

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

The possible is not out of reach — Jesus Christ specializes in possibilities.

May the Lord keep you well and bless you abundantly.

Follow the Light of Christ Jesus

2 Corinthians 8:8-12  (NIV)

v. 11 ~ “Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.”

Christian Application

Avoid letting the energy and time spent go to waste because your work is undone.  Jesus did the work out of love, so what part have you left incomplete. Be encouraged and fulfill the commitment you made.

My beloved brothers and sisters, pray to determine what area of your life needs improving or correction. May the Word of the Lord be your light.

LOVE   JOY    PEACE    LONGSUFFERING    GENTLENESS    GOODNESS    FAITH    MEEKNESS      TEMPERANCE         ~Galatians 5:22-23

We are better together, but greater with Jesus Christ.

Be encouraged

Lessons to Heal

First Aid: Mental Health

The start of a new year and the holidays are ending. Stress levels increase and loneliness concerns rise also.  Some stress is not uncommon. The trajectory of your day will depend on how you respond.  How you handle stress is very important. Recent research suggests that within 1 to 2 minutes of a counteraction can change our mindset and release body stress after the occurrence.

Try these starting tips along with prayer.

Practice Gratitude: It can help reduce feelings of anxiety and stress. Remember what you are thankful for instead of focusing on every problem. You want to stay positive, write them down or speak them out loud.

Healthy Coping: Find activities to improve and enrich your mental and physical health. Laughter, visit family/friends, mediate, and/or journaling. Relax.

Routine Change:  Do something different. Avoid going home/to a bar sitting frustrated or having ardent spirits instead change your environment.  Take a break. Watch an uplifting show/movie, work on a hobby or take a walk to shift your focus.

Reexamine the Day:  Briefly think about what transpired during the day. Ask yourself: “Is there anything I could change for future reference” or “Could I have improved my reaction to the situation.”  Ex: Did I become hostile, disconnected or very angry? Reflecting on your day later and setting clear expectations can help you in similar situations in the future.

Practice Self-Care:  Knowing how to take care of yourself is crucial to working through stress. Be kind to SELF—make mental health a priority.  Consider what cheers you up or energizes you. Eat well, talk about it if needed, and slow down.  Hint: Social media is not the best choice.

Regular exercise helps with stress, mood, sleep, and thinking.  Fifteen to twenty minutes a day is also good heart health too. It is okay if you cannot change the bad feelings of your day. Simply take care of your mental and physical health the best way you can at the time. Stay positive during stressful times and rest your mind to refresh.
